COMMUNITY SUPPORT OFFICER ? CLINICIAN VACANCY

THE ORGANISATION:

AsIAm, a not-for-profit organisation, is Ireland?s national autism
charity based in Blackrock, Co Dublin. AsIAm is a fast paced and
growing organisation that works tirelessly to create a society in
which every autistic person is empowered to reach their own personal
potential and fully participate in society.

AsIAm has enhanced its service offering with the addition of an Autism
Information Line service to provide support to the Autism community
through timely responses to autistic individuals and families via
phone, email and instant messaging.

We are currently looking to recruit an appropriately qualified
clinician (educational/clinical psychologist/speech and language
therapist / occupational therapist) to join our community support
team.

THE ROLE:

The Community Support Officer will report directly to the Casework
Manager. They will work with autistic individuals and families on a
range of matters via calls, emails, or instant messaging from the
autistic community.

The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the ongoing
development of AsIAm?s innovative and impactful Information Line.

This role provides an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience
in delivering effective therapeutic supports to autistic people and
has a deep knowledge of autistic culture and autism related issues in
Ireland. The Community Support Officer will also support the
development of support materials, resources and events based on the
thematic trends arising on the Information Line.

The successful candidate will have excellent skills in facilitating
meaningful interactions with autistic people and their families, and
creative solutions to building capacity of service users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Contribute to the development and ongoing operation of the
Information Line Service
* Document interactions with service users accurately and
sensitively
* Track calls and the services and solutions provided to callers
* Communicate in all interactions with service users in a sensitive
and professional manner
* Assess and categorise the support /information requirement of
service users
* Contribute to the development of a triage system for service users
* Use appropriate clinical models and frames of reference to
structure process and drive first point solutions where possible
* Make appropriate referrals to external agencies and team members
and follow up to ensure resolution in a timely manner
* Develop resources, information materials and support
initiatives/events based on needs raised by service users
* Adhere to protocols and policies in the operation of the
Information Line to ensure compliance with all regulation and best
practise guidelines and a consistency in approach
* Engage in appropriate training to meet the evolving needs of the
service, as required
* Contribute to trend analysis on the level, type, and frequency of
calls / callers
* Provide regular updates to the Casework Manager
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders
* Work collaboratively with other disciplines and officers within
the organisation to build the capacity of the team through delivering
internal training or guidance as required
* Participate in the overall team to ensure collaborative teamwork
and support other team members as required
* Support the overall work of the organisation and take on other
such duties as may be required from time to time
* Represent the organisation at meetings/seminars or where requested

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

_EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED_

* A minimum of one year?s experience in delivering effective and
evidence-based supports to autistic adults or children in a
therapeutic setting
* Ability to communicate and engage with a diverse community of
people
* Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to present and deliver training as required
* Deep knowledge of autism, contemporary autistic culture and autism
related issues
* Ability to operate independently
* Strong computer literacy
* Relevant academic qualification (educational/clinical psychology /
speech and language therapy / occupational therapy)
* Experience in working effectively with the network of adults
around the child; the family, school and professionals
* Strong ability to communicate in the written form including in
emails or guidance documents

_OTHER REQUIREMENTS RELEVANT TO THE ROLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL ARE:-_

* Knowledge of disability legislation and public policy
* Experience of producing evidence-based universal educational
resources for the autism community
* Experience in facilitating group supports or delivering training
* Relevant academic qualification

CONTRACT DURATION

This is a three year fixed term role with a view to permanency.

SALARY & BENEFITS

AsIAm will offer salary and benefits commensurate with AsIAm pay scale
and experience.

WORKING HOURS

The role is Monday to Friday, 9:**Apply on the website** am to
5:**Apply on the website** pm.
The role holder is required to have a degree of flexibility regarding
working hours with the expectation of some evening and weekend work.

The role is based in AsIAm HQ in Blackrock, Co Dublin. It may be open
to putting in place a remote working agreement when probation is
complete.
